Career story

There are two major points that I was able to benefit from and would like to emphasize: I learned the importance of prior setup and the importance of cooperation.

Degree: Bachelor of Architectural Engineering

Freshman (Initial 2 years)Learn the importance of setup from seniors with 10 years of experience.

No one can work independently immediately after joining the company. When I was a new employee, I encountered many things I didn't understand, and I didn't have a smartphone, so I had to ask my supervisors and cooperating companies whenever I had questions and remember my work by taking handwritten notes. The most memorable thing was that my seniors, who had about 10 years more experience than me, taught me the importance of setup. For example, if it is forecast that it will rain the next day, work efficiency will improve if you prepare for it, and if the work process is highly accurate, you will not have to wait for a collaborator. At first, I couldn't organize everything in my head, so I remember spending days actually creating a process chart and visualizing the setup to deepen my understanding of construction management.

Mid-career (From 3rd to 10th year)Knowing the importance of helping each other, growing as an On-Site Agent.

From around the third year, I was able to make arrangements that I was satisfied with, and in the following few years I gained a lot of experience as an Assistant On-Site Agent. During this time, I was able to handle the instructions of my Supervisor, and my work was fun, but in the seventh year I hit a wall. For the first time, I was assigned as an On-site Agent and I realized how difficult it is to make all the decisions and give instructions. Whenever I faced difficulty as a representative, the workers of the partner companies helped me. Before that, I was overconfident and thought that I had to instruct the workers as the person in charge. But I learned that work cannot be done alone, and that by helping each other, the site can be established and good work can be done. I think it was at that moment that I was able to become a genuine On-Site Agent.

Present (From 11th year to present)Focus on training young people by making use of my own experience.

Now, as a veteran, I am in charge of a wide variety of properties as an On-Site Agent, and I try to delve into my specialized knowledge and study. In addition, I was able to gain experience from a responsible position, such as negotiations with the owner and design office, budget and quality control, and an increased sense of accomplishment when handing over the finished property to the owner.

Another big change was that I was in a position to teach young employees. There are situations that are different from when I was a new employee, such as the use of digital devices and advances in work style reforms, but the importance of training young people has not changed. Just as I was taught the importance of setup by my seniors, I would like to convey my knowledge and know-how to my juniors.

FutureWork style reforms and DX for work accuracy and safety.

The direction we aim for as a company is to reform work styles and promote DX. I think that this should be done voluntarily at TSUCHIYA rather than keeping up with the trends of the world. Long working hours can lead to fatigue, which can lead to carelessness and accidents. Improving the working environment and improving efficiency by utilizing DX will eventually increase work accuracy and safety, and I think that these reforms will attract promising students to choose TSUCHIYA as a company for employment.

My personal dream for the future is to engage in national-level projects and new architecture that utilizes cutting-edge technology. It's just a dream at the moment, but when you imagine using a 3D printer or working completely remotely, it's exciting to get a glimpse of the future of the construction industry.

The construction industry is a place where you can feel connection with many people. I personally have felt that point in my career so far. Working together to complete a single property is a real thrill, and I think it is worth making it a lifelong pursuit. At TSUCHIYA, many colleagues are waiting for you to join us. Why don't you try joining our “Mono Zukuri” with an attractive environment where you can feel the positive support and connection of employees?
